Hollywood Star Angelina Jolie will star in “Beowulf,” a film based on an old story in which a Scandinavian hero Beowulf fights fierce battles to defeat a man-eating monster called Grendel. “Beowulf” will use “performance-capture” technology, which transforms the actors into computer-animated versions of themselves.

“Beowulf” is slated for a 2007 release, with Paramount Pictures handling domestic distribution, and Warner Bros. international reports Reuters. It will be co-financed by investor Steve Bing’s Shangri-La banner, which funded half of the Warner-distributed “Polar Express.”
