Jolie & Pitt Continue Stay in Costa Rica

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt can’t seem to get enough of this tourist-friendly Central American nation. After spending Christmas Day here with Colombian refugees, the Hollywood couple plan to ring in 2007 at the exclusive Four Seasons Resort in Papagayo on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast, La Nacion newspaper reported.

A telephone call to Pitt’s publicist in Beverly Hills, Calif., wasn’t immediately returned Thursday.

Accompanied by their three children, a nanny and a personal chef, the Jolie-Pitt entourage, registered as ‘the Black family,’ have been staying at the resort since last Friday, the report said.

Jolie and Pitt have three children: 5-year-old Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; 23-month-old daughter, Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia; and 6-month old daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple in May.

The hotel’s Web site describes the facility as ’spilling down a lush mountainside to an isthmus of golden sand,’ and says room rates range from $470 to $6,800 a night.

Jolie, 31, and Pitt, 43, spent Christmas Day in Costa Rica with refugee children and families from Colombia, also part of Jolie’s ambassadorship for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, the agency said.

There are about 11,500 refugees in Costa Rica, most of whom fled Colombia because of the conflict among leftist guerrillas, soldiers and paramilitary forces.

‘I am deeply affected by having had the opportunity to be with them,’ said Costa Rica’s former Culture Minister Guido Saenz, who gave the couple a tour of the country’s art museum. ‘They have a mixture of physical beauty, great talent and an altruistic attitude.’

Jolie co-stars in the Universal Pictures drama ‘The Good Shepherd’ with Matt Damon and Robert De Niro. Pitt stars in ‘Babel,’ a Paramount Vantage release.

Personal tragedy makes Jolie an Oscar winner

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

Angelina Jolie’s troubled life has made her a better actress. The Tomb Raider star - who won an Oscar in 1999 for her portrayal of a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted - insists dealing with emotional trauma in her personal life has made it easier to relate to troubled
characters.

She said: “The fuller your life is, the more of a well of reserves you have to pull from. Because I have a full life, I can relate to certain kinds of loss and certain kinds of love. I’ve had very extreme emotions and very extreme things have happened in my life - good and bad.”

Angelina is estranged from her father, actor John Voight, and has been divorced twice. Earlier this week, Angelina Jolie said she knew Madonna would run into trouble by adopting a baby from Malawi - because of the country’s uncertain adoption laws.

The Good Shepherd actress - who has given homes to two underprivileged children, five-year-old Maddox and Zahara, 23 months - says Madonna was open to criticism and problems because Malawi has no set guidelines for such cases.

She said: “Madonna knows very well that she adopted from a country without legal adoption, so it was an unusual

Jolie and Pitt ready to quit acting?

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt could be ready to reduce their acting careers, in order to concentrate on their family.

The Hollywood couple have three children - 5-year-old Maddox and 1-year-old Zahara, who are both adopted, and baby Shiloh Nouvel, born seven months ago - and Jolie insists that they do not want to be part-time parents.

“I’m hoping that as we got older, we’ll do less films,” the actress told chat show host Larry King. “And just to know, we don’t raise our kids in Hollywood. They don’t go to sets every day. They travel the world and we do many, many other things.”

Sin City Character Helped Angelina Jolie Get Over Depression

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Angelina Jolie raised her spirits while suffering from depression during her recent pregnancy by dreaming of playing a sexy comic book character in the upcoming Sin City sequel.
The Oscar-winning actress felt low while waiting to give birth to Shiloh Novel, her daughter with Brad Pitt, earlier this year (06).

And although she hasn’t yet secured the part of Ava Lord in the upcoming Sin City 2, Jolie admits the prospect of the role lifted her spirits.

She says, “It was a funny thing, because the idea came to me when I was pregnant.

“I’d been depressed and quiet, and I was feeling very maternal and pregnant, and there was a character in the Sin City comic who is this sexy, violent lass. I suddenly thought, ‘Maybe after I’m pregnant, that’ll be nice to do.’

“But it didn’t come at that time, but we are still talking about it.” (c) WENN

Jolie: ‘Adoptive Parents More Fit To Raise a Child’

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Angelina Jolie insists adoptive parents are more fit to raise a child than biological parents, because their background and personality is thoroughly scrutinized to see if they’re suitable for the challenge.

The actress was put through stringent tests before being granted permission to adopt Maddox, 5, and Zahara, 1.

But when she gave birth to baby girl Shiloh Nouvel earlier this year, nobody investigated her suitability as a mother.

She says, “It should be hard to be a parent, period. I go through many things to adopt.

“I’m finger-printed, I’m checked, I go through home studies. I have to prove I’m a decent citizen; a good human being.

“That didn’t happen to me when I gave birth, so it’s interesting that there’s no background check when you bring a child into your home in that way.”

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Plan Three Christmas Celebrations

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are preparing to celebrate Christmas three times this winter to include their adopted children’s native traditions. The superstar couple have two adopted kids - Cambodian-born Maddox, five and Zahara, one, from Ethiopia.

Jolie says, “Zahara’s Christmas is January 8. With Maddox, it is the water festivals in Buddhism. We’re getting into all that with them.”

Jolie and Pitt also have a biological daughter called Shiloh Nouvel, born earlier this year.

Angelina Jolie is a control freak

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

‘The Good Shepherd’ actress - who has two adopted children, Maddox, five, and 23-month-old Zahara, and a biological daughter, seven-month-old Shiloh, with partner Brad Pitt - insists she has to be super-organised to juggle her professional and hectic family life.

She is quoted by Britain’s New magazine as saying: “I’m one of those women who annoys everybody else in the family with their schedules. I’m like, ‘OK, its two o’clock, everybody has to go to sleep because we have to get up at four o’clock!’ I’m that person.”

Angelina admits her career has taken a backseat lately, so she can focus on her children.

She explained: “Brad and I talk a lot about who’s going to work and when and making sure we don’t miss this time in our life with our kids. I worked maybe two months in the last two years and I’m fine with it.”

Jolie: ‘Pitt doesn’t want to marry’

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Angelina Jolie has laughed off boyfriend Brad Pitt’s claims they would marry when “everyone else in the country” can, reiterating they have no plans to wed.

Earlier this year, the actor told men’s magazine Esquire, “Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.”

Last week, Jolie insisted they weren’t planning to become husband and wife, saying, “We’ve both been married before, so it’s not marriage that necessarily kept some people together. We are legally bound to our children, not to each other, and I think that’s the most important thing.”

When many magazines brought up Pitt’s quotes, which appeared to contradict Jolie’s, the actress insisted his words were misinterpreted.

She says, “I think he was commenting just on the state (that) we all wish for. That’s not really a comment on whether or not we would or if we plan to.”

Pitt has been married once before, to Jennifer Aniston, while Jolie has two ex-husbands–Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Angelina Jolie: Kissing Matt Damon Just Part of the Job

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

NEW YORK — What’s the biggest difference between kissing Matt Damon and kissing Brad Pitt? “One’s a friend and one’s my love,” says Angelina Jolie, who co-stars with Damon in the upcoming drama “The Good Shepherd.”

“In reality, both the people we’re involved with couldn’t have cared less about that (love scene) because they know us,” Jolie told Diane Sawyer in an interview that aired Friday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“It’s one of those things where it’s like the least threatening person,” the 31-year-old actress said. “Good luck to you guys, I hope it’s not too awkward.”

Said Damon, who co-starred with Pitt in the “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Ocean’s Twelve” movies: “It’s weird. … We all know each other.”

Damon married Luciana Bozan while filming “The Good Shepherd.” The couple have a 6-month-old daughter, Isabella.

The 36-year-old actor said getting married had more of an impact than he thought it would. “We already had the house in Florida and everything, and so I didn’t. … I didn’t think it was going to really change anything necessarily, but it actually did.”

Jolie has said that she and Pitt, who will be 43 on Monday, are in no rush to wed. Pitt has wondered why they should marry when gay couples can’t.

“I think … he was commenting just on the state (that) we all wish for,” Jolie said. “That’s not really a comment on whether or not we would or if we plan to.”

“The Good Shepherd,” a Universal Pictures release, opens in theaters Dec. 22.

Angelina Jolie In Talks for Sin City 2?

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

During a recent interview with Angelina Jolie for The Good Shepherd, we actually got to buttonhole her about the persistent rumors that she was indeed going to be in Sin City 2. Here’s what the much sought after actress had to say…

Frank Miller has stated publicly that he wants you for Sin City 2. Have you spoken to him?

Angelina Jolie: We talked about it and I read the comic. I don’t think the film is being made at this moment. When it’s actually going to be made I’m sure we’ll talk about it. It was a funny thing, because the idea came to me when I was pregnant. I’ve been Clover, depressed and quiet, and then I was feeling very maternal, pregnant. It was this idea of this sexy, violent, and loud character. I thought maybe after I’m pregnant it would be nice to do.

Do you know when it might shoot?

Angelina Jolie: I don’t know when it might go and if I have time when it does, but I like the comics and I love him as a director, so it’s possibility.

More details on Sin City 2 coming soon.
