Angelina Jolie has thanked TV host Larry King for landing her a role in Clint Eastwood’s Changeling – because the pair first hatched plans for a movie project together when they were backstage at his talk show. Jolie met the actor/director during an appearance on Larry King Live in New York and Eastwood took the opportunity to talk to the actress about working together. The meeting led to the Hollywood legend casting Jolie in 2008 drama Changeling, in a role which won her an Oscar nomination, and she thanked King for his input during an appearance on the show on Wednesday (November 08). She says, “You know, it’s funny. I had never met Clint before and I met him the last time I was in your studio. And he was just coming off. And I was in the waiting room. And it was the first time we met. And we joked that we really, really wanted to work together. “And I told him how crazy I was about him and his films. And we ate, you know, in your little craft service in the back. And it was the beginning – I think a few months later we decided to do Changeling.” King adds, “So, once again… this show is part of history.”

Jolie Keen To Join Depp And Burton Team

Posted November 12th, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Angelina Jolie would love to join the Johnny Depp and Tim Burton “family”. The 35-year-old actress has revealed she would love to star in the planned Sleeping Beauty re-imagining Maleficent with Burton at the helm, as well as starring with Depp again following their work on The Tourist. She told MTV News: “It’s all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favourite. “Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary.” Asked about re-teaming with Depp, she said: “Oh, of course. I think every actor would be open to that. “They are such a special team, and so you’d feel like you’d be entering a family that is such a wonderful, existing family.” Tim – who has worked with Depp on seven films in the past – has previously revealed he would love Angelina to take part in the project, although it is still in production. He said: “I’d love to work with her. We’re working on a script for that. It’s hard to know when that script will be ready. But I’m a huge fan. That would be a good one.” Maleficent is expected for release in 2013.

Jolie Ignores Critics In Favour Of Pitt’s Advice

Posted November 9th, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Angelina Jolie refuses to read reviews of her movies and only takes constructive criticism from her partner Brad Pitt. The Hollywood actress admits she avoids looking at critics’ comments about her work, and doesn’t even acknowledge how well her films do at the box office. And Jolie insists the opinion that matters most to her is that of her long-term partner Pitt. She tells Larry King, “I never look for it (box office figures). Sometimes people tell you what you don’t need to know. But I never look for it. And I never want to do films because of that. You hope that people see films and you hope that they enjoy the films because in the end that’s why you make them. “Good or bad. I think it’s best to (avoid reading reviews). I’ll ask Brad what he thinks. I’ll ask, you know, my family and if people in the street give me their opinion, I appreciate it and I take that and that means something. But I never, never (read reviews). I think… you don’t want to be influenced by that.”

Jolie Calls For Paparazzi Law

Posted November 6th, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Angelina Jolie is calling for a new law to protect celebrities and their families from unscrupulous photographers who get too close to stars’ kids. The Hollywood actress has six children with her partner Brad Pitt and the famous family is a regular target for the paparazzi. Jolie admits some snappers scare the youngsters by getting too close, and although she doesn’t want to stop the photographers doing their job, she wishes a law was in place to force them to keep their distance and use long lenses to avoid unnerving the children. She tells Larry King, “I do think and I do hope that there will at some point be laws about how close they can get to children with cameras. Because I think at some point it’s going to be clearer that it’s emotionally not healthy. And with long lenses, there’s no need. “You know I’m somebody that I would like there to be a law about the distance they have to children. So I think we work for things like that. Something simple and practical.” She adds, “We try not to get them in the middle of it… When they do, we just have to kind of smile and say, ‘Don’t worry, it’s not scary, they just like to take pictures’. “As a parent, the only thing you can do is try to make sure they don’t feel it’s a threat, you don’t act like it’s a threat, and you just keep smiling so they don’t feel anything negative.” Jolie’s partner Pitt has previously called for a law to protect children, insisting he has “no respect” for snappers who follow the family and call out the kids’ names in a bid to get a shot.

Angelina Jolie Loves Family On Movie Sets

Posted November 3rd, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Angelina Jolie likes having her children on movie sets. The 35-year-old beauty loved having them on set with her during the filming of new movie The Tourist and reveals they laughed at her portrayal of English character Elsie Ward in the film. She said: “It’s always fun to have family on set. I think it wouldn’t be the same without them. They get to come and laugh at mummy for playing dress up and having a funny accent. “Fortunately, we’ve given them a love of discovering new places and new people and new cultures. And they like to pack their bags and have new adventures.” Angelina relished the opportunity to play a “real lady” on the project alongside Johnny Depp as it was something new for her. She told MTV News: “I liked that she was a real lady, a real European lady, and I’ve never played that before. I thought it was a challenge for me to be a girl, a real girly girl.” She recently revealed she hoped her kids would grow up to be “beautiful individuals” who are “happy and loved”. She said: “Hopefully they are happy, and they know that they were loved, and that they were encouraged to be who they are, and not pushed into something that they’re not. “Hopefully they’ll be the strong, beautiful individuals that they are today, and be happy in their lives, be fulfilled in their lives, and be living their lives honestly.”

Jolie Dismisses Surgery Rumours

Posted October 31st, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Angelina Jolie has dismissed rumours she’s undergone cosmetic surgery to slow the ageing process, insisting she hasn’t “had anything done”. The Hollywood actress is famed for her beauty, but has been subject to speculation she’s used medical procedures to keep her youthful looks. However, Jolie is adamant she’s completely natural and doubts she will consider surgery in the future. She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “I haven’t had anything done and I don’t think I will. But if it makes somebody happy then that’s up to them. I’m not in somebody else’s skin to know what makes them feel better about themselves. But I don’t plan to do it myself.”

Angelina Jolie looked to Hollywood veterans Clint Eastwood, Michael Winterbottom and Robert De Niro for inspiration as she embarked on her directorial debut. The Salt star recently wrapped filming on her as-yet-untitled love story, set during the Bosnian war, and admits she incorporated aspects of the trio’s work ethic into her own project to get the best from her cast and crew. She says, “I learned a lot from Clint, who is very economic as a director. “I learned a lot from Michael Winterbottom, who really gave a lot of trust in the actors and tries to capture them in their space instead of making it look too stagey (sic). “Working with De Niro, it taught me a lot about being an actors’ director. Hopefully, I’ve learned from all of them.” And Jolie enjoyed stepping away from the limelight to showcase the talents of her movie’s stars, who were mostly of Eastern European heritage. She adds, “It was nice to take the spotlight off myself and put it on some brilliant actors from an area… I’m excited to show their work and their talent to the world. “I’m very proud of what they gave and what they did so I just felt lucky to be there for it.”

Jolie Learned Good Manners For Movie

Posted October 25th, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Angelina Jolie has been taking “manners classes”. The brunette beauty felt she needed to refine some of her behaviour in preparation for her role as sophisticated British woman Elise Ward opposite Johnny Depp in The Tourist. She said: “I’m not completely clumsy or gross, but the character takes her time with everything. I’m an American! I do 10 things before breakfast.” The 35-year-old beauty admitted she can’t understand why so many people are fascinated by her but is hopeful interest in her will fade as she gets older. She said: “I don’t find myself that interesting in that way. But I feel like it happens to everybody. It’s just that it’s a weird time right now. There’s just so much of all of that, for everybody. It’s just, it’s a new world. “I just assume the older I get, the more it’ll go away. The more private I’ll become.”
