Angelina Jolie has begun collaborating with jeweller Robert Procop on a collection of accessories. The range – which features “a mix of tablets and cushion-cut stones set in yellow and rose golds” – will go on sale this spring, reports Life & Style. “Her style is very chic and classic, but it still has this very artistic innovation,” Procop told the publication. Jolie previously designed a necklace for partner Brad Pitt as a gift.

Jolie ‘overshadowed’ luxury brand

Angelina Jolie has been dismissed as the face of luxury label St. John – after bosses decided the famous actress was overshadowing the fashions she modelled. The tattooed Tomb Raider star signed up with the designer brand in 2005, replacing supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and has been featured in their ad campaigns ever since. Blonde beauty Kelly Gray, the daughter of the brand’s founders Robert and Marie Gray, previously posed for the upscale firm. But now top executive Glenn MCMahon has dropped Jolie – in favour of red-headed model Karen Elson for the spring campaign. MCMahon tells WWD.com that Jolie “overshadowed” the brand, adding, “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette. We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.”

Angelina Jolie has joined Ben Affleck and Demi Moore in an effort to highlight the plight of desperate women in Third World countries by narrating a video about a teenage Cambodian sex slave. The Oscar winner and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador agreed to front the hard-hitting film after being moved by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof’s stories about the death, mutilation and despicable discrimination against young women and teenagers in the world’s poorest places. In the video, shot by Kristof and aired on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, Jolie, whose adopted son Maddox is Cambodian, reveals the girl was kidnapped from her village when she was just 13, sold to sex slavery and forced into prostitution before she had experienced her first period. The tragic teen in the video also revealed she was electrocuted twice a day for arguing too much, and tied up at night so she couldn’t escape. Through a translator, she revealed her virginity was sold four times before she managed to escape and she was “stitched up three times”. Jolie revealed, “Virgins bring in hundreds of dollars for brothel owners are are in high demand by men with Aids, who believe having sex with a virgin will cure their disease. “Because these enslaved girls are forbidden to request condoms, they’re vulnerable to STDs (sexually-transmitted diseases), Aids and pregnancies.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated $6.8 million to charity last year. It has been revealed the Hollywood couple gave away the giant sum of cash to several different charities last year after raising the money through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation. According to The Hollywood Reporter – which has received a copy of the 2008 tax return for the charity – the Jolie-Pitt Foundation banked $13 million in 2008 and over half was given back to good causes. The Global Health Council, an organisation which aims to reduce disease and death globally, received $2 million from the couple. Brad’s Make It Right Foundation and the Human Rights Watch were each granted $1 million from the celebrity pair. The rest of the money was split between The Armed Services YMCA of the US Army, who were given $500,000, schools in Brad Pitt’s hometown in Springfield, Missouri, which received $50,000, and around $1 million went towards projects in Cambodia, where their eight-year-old adopted son Maddox is from. Last year, Brad and Angelina sold the rights for the first images of their twins, Knox and Vivienne – who were born on July 12, 2008 – for several million dollars. This money is believed to have been donated to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation – which they formed in 2006 to aid global humanitarian causes.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have turned jewellery designers to launch a collection of accessories benefiting the actress’ children’s charity. The Hollywood couple has teamed up with exclusive British jewellers Asprey for a selection of high-end gold and silver pieces inspired by serpents as part of The Protector line. The range includes diamond-studded pendants and rings, baby spoons and picture frames, all featuring the reptile, and are priced from $525 (£330). According to WWD.com, Jolie chose the snake theme after being gifted a ring in the shape of a snake while she was pregnant with the couple’s first biological daughter, Shiloh, in 2006. Proceeds from the Protector range, which is being sold at Asprey stores in London, New York, Los Angeles, Toyko, Japan and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, will be donated to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, an organisation the Tomb Raider star co-founded in 2006. In a statement about the charity, the stars say, “These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, a place to build a better future and a place – to just be children.
“Yet the education for these children is often forgotten. Tens of millions of children and adolescents in conflict are not in school.”

Soccer star David Beckham has laughed off rumours he is set to strip off for a raunchy poster ad with sex symbol Angelina Jolie. After Beckham unveiled his new steamy advert for Emporio Armani, it was rumoured bosses at the fashion firm wanted to team him with Jolie for a traffic-stopping billboard campaign. The Brit admits he’s a Jolie fan, but insists the gossip isn’t true. He says, “I don’t think that’s true. I definitely don’t think that’s true. Think it’s something put out in the press. “She’s an amazing person and so is Brad Pitt. They’re an incredible couple – got an amazing family. You know she wouldn’t do it and I wouldn’t do it. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t do it because I’m married.”

Jolie new face of Armani perfume?

Angelina Jolie has reportedly signed with top fashion house Emporio Armani to become the face of their new perfume. The Hollywood beauty is said to be fronting the advertising campaign for the as-yet-unknown fragrance and insiders claim she is proving to be a hands-on spokesmodel. A source tells U.S. news show The Insider, “For this fragrance push, they needed a true A-lister, and Angelina is the biggest, most dynamic female star in the world. “She’s giving a lot of input on that stuff (ad campaign) already, picking the photographers and directors. The campaign is going to be bold.” And rumours have already begun spreading about Jolie possibly teaming up with Armani’s other famous spokesmodel, soccer star David Beckham, for a steamy shoot. Another insider tells website iol.ie, “When you have David Beckham and Angelina Jolie signed up to your fashion house, it’s a no-brainer to link them up. “They appeal to a diverse audience and a collaboration would create so much publicity it would push Armani head and shoulders above their rivals. There are a few contract issues to be addressed but marketing experts are being tasked with coming up with clever ideas for a print campaign.” Beckham can currently be seen modelling Armani underwear in sizzling new ads with his wife Victoria Beckham, who fronts the designer’s lingerie line.

Jolie films video for refugees

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is continuing her fight work as a United Nations (UN) ambassador by filming a video urging the world to recognise the plight of refugees. The actress, who serves as a Refugees Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission, has long battled to help millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes because of war or persecution. Jolie visited a refugee centre in Northern Thailand in February and her experiences led her to make an emotive appeal urging Thai officials to free thousands of displaced Burmese citizens, who have been held in camps for up to 20 years. Her comments drew the wrath of the Thai government who chastised UN bosses for allowing the star to visit the camps. But Jolie has refused to slow her campaign and she has now appeared in a video to promote World Refugee Day on June 20. The Tomb Raider star addresses the camera in the short film, urging people across the world to pay more attention to the problems of others. Jolie begins by telling viewers not to look away as harrowing video footage of the desperate displaced flashes onto the screen. She says, “Refugees are the most vulnerable people on earth. Every day they are fighting to survive. They deserve our respect, please do not forget them. Remember them on this day, World Refugee Day.”
