Angelina Jolie misses walking through New York. The Salt actress – who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt – admits she occasionally pines for the anonymity she had when first starting her career. She said: “I do miss anonymity. I lived in New York in my early 20s and I used to just walk block after block. I loved it.” Angelina and her family currently divide their time between Los Angeles, New Orleans, Cambodia and France and the 35-year-old star says she cherishes her time in Asia the most. She explained: “In Cambodia we live very locally and ride elephants and hang out in the streams and be with local people who are our friends.” Although Angelina is close to her children, she admits she is aware of the negative effect her fame can have on their lives. She said: “They have more freedoms when we’re mot around. They do have an understanding of fame, it bothers them sometimes and it scares them sometimes.”

Angelina Jolie’s daughter is “strong-willed”. The Salt actress – who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt – insists that she couldn’t deter four-year-old Shiloh from wanting to dress like a boy, even if she wanted to change the youngster. She said: “I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is. “I think people think kids should be a certain way, but I feel they should wear what they feel like wearing and they should express themselves. Shiloh cried one night and said, ‘Please cut my hair off. I don’t want to have long hair.’ I’m not going to leave it long just because somebody thinks I should.” The 35-year-old beauty also spoke of how much she enjoys “date nights” with Brad away from their family. She added: “You have to have date nights if you have children. Sometimes we’ll ask a babysitter to spend the night so we can go out, but sometimes we just go to another part of the house.”

Angelina Jolie takes care to schedule ‘date nights’ with her partner Brad Pitt – because she’s convinced a little bit of romance will help “hold” their relationship “together”. The actress admits she carefully plans time away from their six children so they can be together as a couple – even if it only means sneaking off to another corner of their house to have dinner on their own. She tells Britain’s Mail on Sunday, “We actually schedule them (date nights). We just had one the other night and we went next door so we didn’t have to worry about the paparazzi and the kids didn’t know where we were. We have a house that has two sections so we go to the part that’s normally the studio and the office and just have dinner as a couple. “If you can hold it together – which is hard these days and a lot of people separate – then you have to work at it, and you have to make that time when you are not Mum and Dad once in a while.”

Brad Pitt bought his partner Angelina Jolie a motorcycle for her recent 35th birthday – and he’s spent the subsequent weeks teaching the actress how to ride it. The Oscar-winner celebrated turning 35 on June 04 with a low-key barbecue at the couple’s mansion in Los Feliz, California. Jolie has revealed the surprise of the day came when Pitt presented her with a red MV Augusta bike, and she’s enjoyed learning how to handle the vehicle with the help of her doting partner. She tells Britain’s Mail, “I’m not sure what cc it is. But I can tell you it’s a proper bike and it’s powerful. I used to have a bike years ago, but I hadn’t owned one for a long time. Brad’s a really good teacher – he’s really patient. I’m very impatient so I can wreck a bike if I’m not careful. Sometimes we’ll go on the track together and there you can go really fast and let your hair down.”

Angelina Jolie is glad she turned down the chance to star opposite Daniel Craig in Casino Royale – because she would never have felt comfortable playing a supporting role to a male action hero. The Oscar-winner was approached by 007 movie bosses to take a turn as a Bond girl in the 2006 film, but she refused. And Jolie has no regrets about the decision because she was able to fulfil her action ambitions with her own superspy role in new movie Salt. She tells Britain’s Mail, “They wanted me to play a Bond girl in Casino Royale. I said, “Actually, I’d prefer to play him; I’d rather be Bond.’ It was a joke – kind of. It was an interesting conversation. “Salt is nothing like Bond. In so many spy films women are femme fatales and we wanted to avoid that. My character doesn’t use her sexuality to get anything. It’s the roughest I’ve looked. When we fight, it gets ugly. Somebody breaks my nose in the film. It’s not pretty. “I think when people write things for women – at least with the films I’ve done in the past, such as Tomb Raider – they’re not serious. They’re not raw. They’re not hard. So when we wanted a real female action hero, we looked towards something that wasn’t written for a woman.”

Liev Schreiber has revealed his children went on playdates with Angelina Jolie’s kids while the two actors filmed action movie Salt. The actor – who has two children, three-year-old Alexander and 19-month-old Samuel Kai, with his partner Naomi Watts – explained that while he and Angelina shot fight scenes in a New York studio their kids took part in waterfights outside in the studio lot. He said: “There were playdates which were amazingly fun! We were playing shoot ups inside the studio, and [our kids] were having squirt gun fights out in the lot.” The 42-year-old star revealed that his children and Angelina’s brood with Brad Pitt – adopted trio Maddox, Zahara, and Pax and biological kids Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne – had a great time and “everyone got along”. Liev insists he and Angelina bonded over their children. He said: “I think we’re both in that place with our kids where they’re really amazing, right around three-years-old, when all the language starts to come out of them. It’s a very exciting period in someone’s life, both the child’s and the parents, and it was fun to bond over that.” Liev also praised Angelina for being so hard working on set. He revealed her most admirable trait was “her diligence… and her commitment to the job. She works her butt off.” He added: “I was very impressed with how normal she was, and how easy she was to work with.”

Angelina Jolie reportedly insisted that her Wanted character must die at the film’s climax. According to MTV, the actress purposely changed the ending of the movie from the comic book on which it was based. “In the original, she doesn’t kill herself,” said Jolie. “I actually changed the ending. I said, ‘If she was to find out she had killed people unjustly and was a part of something that wasn’t fair, then she should take her own life’.” It is speculated that the star set the plot up that way so that she wouldn’t have to come on board for a sequel.
