Angelina Jolie has explained that she has no fear of performing often dangerous stunts for her movies. According to Parade, the Tourist star remarked that she doesn’t worry about the injuries that can result from a botched stunt. “I just push myself as hard as I can,” she said. The actress continued: “I had one night sitting in the tub with my bruises and a little cut, crying and thinking, ‘What am I doing?’ “But the worst that can happen is that you get an injury. I’m fearless to a fault – I don’t know where it comes from.”

Jolie’s Cleopatra is no sex kitten

Posted January 9th, 2011. Filed under Movie News

Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of Cleopatra in a new biopic will not be that of a sexy seductress, it has been claimed. The Hollywood starlet is to play the Egyptian queen in Sony Pictures’ new 3D biopic, based on Stacy Schiff’s biography Queen Of The Nile, Cleopatra: A Life. Director Scott Rudin has told Deadline that the film focuses on Cleopatra as a great ruler. Scott said: “It is a completely revisionist Cleopatra, a much more grown-up sophisticated version. “She’s not a sex kitten, she’s a politician, strategist, warrior. In the Joseph Mankiewicz movie, Elizabeth Taylor is a seductress, but the histories of Cleopatra have been written by men. This is the first to be written by a woman. “It felt like such a blow-the-doors-off-the-hinges idea of how to tell it, impossible to resist. We’re pretty close. A lot of directors want to do it, but there is only a handful we’ll make it with.” James Cameron had previously been in talks to direct the project, but Deadline now reports Bourne director Paul Greengrass is being tipped to direct the film. Scott didn’t reveal who would be behind the camera, but said “we’re pretty close” to signing a director.

Johnny Depp Praises Normal Angelina Jolie

Posted December 18th, 2010. Filed under News & Gossip

Johnny Depp thinks Angelina Jolie is “normal”. The 47-year-old actor admits he had no idea what to expect when he first met the actress ahead of them starring in The Tourist together. He said: “What I was most impressed with Angelina first and foremost was her normality. “I was immediately impressed by her. Well, not that I read much in the press about myself or even anyone, but you can’t help but know that she and Brad are globally hounded and tracked down. “Also, she’s a great mommy.” Johnny – who has children Lily-Rose, 11, and Jack, eight, with long-term partner Vanessa Paradis – may not have known much about Angelina before they met, but he knew he could expect a great performance from her after studying some of her previous movies. He said: “The only thing that sticks out in my mind is The Changeling – her performance was magnificent, so I knew I’d be stepping into the ring with someone who was going to be deeply committed. But at the same time she understands the need for humour, the ability to travel outside of the script sometimes. She was a real sport in that sense.”

It was described as absolutely exquisite.” As well as fitting seven names onto the ring, Angelina also requested it be engraved with “mystical” references that are personal to the couple. The source told the Daily Star newspaper: “She told me there are mystical references to his 47th birthday that have also been engraved on the band and the family all have their own interpretations of what the band means to them and of what 47 means to them.”
